BIOGRAPHICAL QUEER AND FEM*PATH 5
30. Jan. - 10. Apr. 2024 Klagenfurt/Celovec AT
With the title: “QUERGEHEN / PREČNA STEZA” people currently living in Klagenfurt performed their biographical stories in public space as part of the Biographical Queer and Fem*path 5 and led the audience to special places in their queer or feminist life stories.
Each Biographical Fempath deals with alternative city histories, historical omissions and individual perspectives. Biographical stories are developed within biography workshops in advance. Biographical Queer and Fem*path 5 focused on feminist and queer themes included within the life stories. Within each performed path tour, a biographical story was performed, which led through the public space as stations. After passing through the door installation, the audience experienced an alternative queer or feminist city history. Thus, the focus was on the communicative memory of the city of Klagenfurt and included historical omissions relating to representations. For example, a Germanist (un)rolled her herstory or a radio producer told resistant stories with the help of transistor radios or a *diversity expert* connected challenges and places around trans(ition) topics.
The performed paths were preceded by a kick-off event dedicated to the taboo topic of female homosexuality in Carinthia/Koroška: 1938-1945. The lecture began with a contextualization, giving an overview of the historical persecution of homosexuality. It was followed by 3 biographies, to shed light on the individual experiences and challenges of these people.
