Summerbreak
We’re taking a break from Som.meer in August.
The heat waves are challenging, yet they show us that we can’t just carry on as usual. As the feminist biologist Donna Haraway once noted, “What is at stake is the perspective on a web of relationships consisting of diverse actors, both human and non-human.” We can all do something about this; we can engage with all these issues and protagonists and design and live out different concepts. This begins right at the very start—namely, with the stories we tell. That’s why we’re all the more excited to kick off the fall with a new series, “schau.Räumchen,” which is designed as a “Theater-from-the-Very-Beginning!” program for children between the ages of 1 and 3 and their caregivers, offering a different way to experience theater from the very start—through participation and interaction, as well as by bringing marginalized topics to the forefront. We kicked things off with “Salat” by Theater nuu, which has already won several awards, including the Stella Prize, for its work raising awareness.
Speaking of awards, in September we’ll be accepting the 2026 Women’s Prize from the City of Villach and celebrating with you!
