show.Rooms_regional

show.Rooms_regional temporarily intervenes in vacant commercial spaces to address a marginalized topic, involving artists and scholars from the region who work on the selected topic.

The theme is identified by the show.Rooms team as a socially marginalized issue and then established as the focal point. Next, vacant spaces in the region are sought and selected based on how well they align both thematically and spatially. The physical emptiness of these spaces is utilized in its heterotopic context and equated with societal emptiness.

Within these spaces, the focal theme is brought to life through contributions from the fields of academia, performances by contemporary artist groups, and civil society organizations and initiatives that are thematically engaged. These are then made accessible to the public.

During a two-week event series, the show.Rooms_regional audience, accompanied by so-called guides, moves through these spaces and experiences installations, lectures and performances. The life stories and experiences of the guides form a common thread accompanying the individual spaces.
In preparation, show.Rooms offers biography workshops for the guides. Each workshop focuses on biography and memory work.

The aim is to engage with different regions through this participatory and interdisciplinary format and to stimulate societal discourse around diversity.

The following photos will take you to the individual show.Rooms_regional projects.
