The show.Room salons are places of discourse and dialog. Here we ask questions, discuss and reflect. At regular intervals, we devote ourselves to terms and topics from the new show.Rooms glossary and explore them from different perspectives. Moderated by Carla Küffner, these salons invite people to exchange ideas and reflect together. Guests as well as participatory art actions are also included.

schau.Räume Salon: Rolemodels in feminist parenthood

Being a parent or primary caregiver for a child is a rush and a responsibility, laughter and exhaustion, closeness and feeling overwhelmed. But how do we actually want to live out this role? In this salon, we want to think, ask questions, and dream together: What can feminist parenting look like?
What utopian visions emerge in practice and in feminist theory when care is shared? When children transform spaces? When parenting is grounded in solidarity, freedom, and connection?
We’re opening a space for thoughts, experiences, and radical possibilities—and asking together:
How do we want to be parents and caregivers?
And what spaces, relationships, and structures do we need to make that possible?
An evening between care and utopia, between what is and what could yet be.

Moderator: Carla Küffner is a professor for the fields of Disability and Diversity Studies at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. She studied International Development in Vienna and was a research assistant at the Institute of Political Science. She specializes in the areas of migration, flight, gender and queer diversity as well as accessibility and inclusion.
Guest: Simone Dueller is an artist, art educator, and cultural worker; lactation consultant; DJ; and mother of three daughters

Participation. The last Salon was on Saturday, April 18th at 7 p.m. at schau.Räume, Draupromenade 6, Villach. The discourse was how participation works and can be understood— as a shared practice, as a negotiation process, as shared responsibility. Moderated by Carla Küffner. Her guest was Bettina Pirker from Kärnten andas and CONTRASTE . She spoke about her experiences, approaches, and projects. As always, there was also a participatory artistic moment as part of the salon.

"Postmigration. Post-Muslim. Post-Balkan. These aren't labels—they're statements. They represent life plans that cannot be reduced to origin, religion, or migration history," explains Jasmin Donlic, migration expert and research director of schau.Räume_regional, who will be a guest at the salon. Moderated by Carla Küffner, the event invites exchange and discussion.

The SALONS kicked off on 8 MARCH 2025 with the topic: QUEER-FEMINISM. Together we explored: Is there a connection between heterosexuality and the devaluation of women* or the devaluation of characteristics defined as feminine?

Participatory art action: The audience was involved to create an ephemeral work of art by forming a cloud of pink, neon-colored powder. Artistic concept by Katrin Ackerl Konstantin, Light installation by Barbara Ambrusch-Rapp.
