Queerelen!
23. – 24. Nov. 2015 Villach AT
In 2012, show.Rooms_regional used empty business premises in Villach to showcase contributions from artists, scientists and NGOs concerning the theme of QUEER.
Queer is derived from the German word "quer" and from the English word for strange, odd, eccentric, homosexual. With the title of the event "Queerelen!", a controversy was created that questioned normative structures and played on empty spaces in Widmanngasse and Kaiser-Josef-Platz in Villach: In short performances, the audience experienced a wide variety of contributions in the form of lectures, talks, installations and performances in five rooms. The entire guided tour lasted 1 ½ h. The guides who accompanied them through the evening included people who live a queer lifestyle themselves. They were prepared for their work as guides in biography workshops.
Spaces and people:
learn.Room: queer lectures by Beatrice Frasl and Utta Isop
visual.Room: multimedia art by Barbara Rapp and Evelin Stermitz
hear and listen.Room: sound and listening experiments with Muriel Louveau, unplugged live Clara Luzia and live broadcast with Radio Agora
play.Room: queer performance contributions: Leja Jurišić (dance and performance) and ALEGRIA (forum theater)
free.Room: exchange and networking with material from civil society associations (Queer base, türkis-rosa-lila Villa, HOSI) on the topic of queer
Artistic direction: Katrin Ackerl Konstantin
Biography workshops: Rosalia Kopeinig
Scenography: Alex Samyi
