Racism

show.Rooms_global: Racism

25. - 30. Jul. 2017 Cusco PE

show.Rooms_global was dedicated to a global dialogue on Racism and was realized in Cusco and Villach.

show.Rooms_global took place in Peru and Austria in 2017. The connection to Cusco was established by the guide Andrea Pörtsch, as she lived and worked in both towns Villach and Cusco. She suggested the artist group Grupo D'Arte as a cooperation partner, who defined the topic racism as a marginalized issue: "Cusco, the capital of the ancient Inca empire, has a 500-year-old history of colonization. The themes of violence, racism, machismo and corruption are still latent today." (Statement Grupo D'Arte). Grupo D'Arte subsequently developed a production in an entire house at Av gaston Zapata 422 Sta Rosa Wanchaq Cusco, entitled "El que no tiene de inga, tiene de mandinga", which included installations, performances, immersive theater, a documentary film, videos and audience discussions. The events, which lasted approximately one hour, were shown 3 times per evening.

The show.Rooms team was present on site during the week of the events and expanded the program with a biography workshop and documented the event.
