Discrimination and Artistic Freedom

show.Rooms_global: Discrimination and Artistic freedom

25. Mar. - 15. May 2021 Villach AT

show.Rooms_global was dedicated to a global dialogue on Discrimniation and Artistic Freedom and was realized in Iran and Austria.

The production, developed and realized in Iran, was shown online and in a gallery as well as in public space in Villach. Mana Mira, as a partner from Iran, chose the topic "Discrimination and Artistic Freedom" and included several artists in the project. The resulting paintings and photos, as well as an interview film, mainly dealt with the issue of discrimination against women* and girls* and were shown at dialogue events in Villach. The exhibition of the artefacts from Iran took place in Kunst Raum Villach, Hauptplatz 10 and Kaiser-Josef Platz, Villach. In addition, regional contributions on the topic of discrimination and artistic freedom were made (sculptural intervention in public space, performative audio walk in public space, online-talks) which stimulated dialogues about the current situation of discrimination of girls* and women* and of artistic freedom in Austria.
